In this blog, I will talk about my favourite design tool, Adobe Illustrator which is the most frequently used software when I design.
At present, I’ve only done graphic design and I found that Adobe Illustrator is very practical for me.
“Graphic design projects use text and image in concert, with consideration for the relationships established between each of the elements” (Dabner & Swann 2014, pg.1). This software is very useful in typography, it can easily adjust kerning, leading and so on. When making posters, I need to add some text. This function of Adobe Illustrator helps a lot. It makes it easy for me to achieve the effect I want. With Adobe Illustrator I can process text and create graphics. Adobe Illustrator allows me to make changes to the text prototype, which is very convenient. In addition, Adobe Illustrator can also be used to draw graphics and gifs. I can also change the size and shape of elements at will, crop them, adjust their position or overlap them. For me, this software almost meets the requirements of graphic design.

Of course, it also has disadvantages. Adobe Illustrator is used to processing vector images while PhotoShop is better for pixel image processing. So when I have a portrait photo in my poster, I usually need to adjust it in PhotoShop before importing Adobe Illustrator. However, this disadvantage can be one of Adobe Illustrator's advantages. The images made by Adobe Illustrator allows being zoomed in and out without affecting the quality of images. Therefore, when making a logo, use Adobe Illustrator more. Logos are placed on objects of different sizes so that no matter how to change the size of the logo, it will not be fuzzy.
